About Jan

What brings me joy is the growth of my clients as they become powerful observers of themselves and others and more effective at designing and manifesting the lives and outcomes they desire.

The Altus team shares an approach centered in care, conversations and commitment. We show people how to engage in purposeful practice of observable, executable and learnable leadership skills so they generate extraordinary results.

I am a leadership and management coach and consultant of 15 years certified by the Newfield Network, Strozzi Institute, Institute for Generative Leadership and Sandton Coach Centre. I have coached executives, managers and professional staff in federal government, biotechnology, science, engineering, media, law, advanced technology, non-profit, NGOs, healthcare and professional services. Clients easily connect with my down-to-earth approach as we co-create a path of learning to bridge the gap between their current and aspired outcomes.

Leaders I work with report greater success negotiating winnable games and delivering committed outcomes, increased self-awareness and choice, improved skills to lead their teams, increased effectiveness initiating missing conversations, and the ability to generate a mood of ambition and committed engagement in their organization.

I began my career as a software developer with an MBA and a background as an intuitive visual and performing artist. At a time when few women were in high tech leadership roles, I steadily advanced my career from software programmer to director as an innovator with global responsibilities. With a passion for learning and comfortable in the unknown, I was often asked to lead or build teams for solving non-repetitive complex business challenges with diverse international stakeholders.

I love the outdoors and I’m an abstract painter, singer and swimmer. I volunteer on the North Santiam Watershed Council and mentor MBA and high school students. My husband Jim and I steward 220 acres on the North Santiam River, Oregon and have three adult children.
